Passengers on flights Quito – Coca are allowed to check in a maximum of 23 kg per person plus a carry-on hand luggage item of 10 kg with reading material, camera, binoculars, and personal documents. Additional or excess baggage is charged per pound directly by the airline.

• Binoculars for wildlife viewing (an absolute necessity).
• Camera/video gear.
• Lightweight long pants.
• Long-sleeved lightweight shirts.
• T-shirts.
• One or two pairs of shorts (mostly for around the lodge).
• Lightweight sweater or jacket.
• Raingear (if you prefer not to use the rain ponchos provided).
• Cotton socks.
• Sandals (Teva type or similar for around the lodge).
• Three or four pairs of absorbent socks.
• Small day pack for excursions.
• Ziplock-type plastic bags to cover optics or other gear.
• Insect repellent (Skin-so-soft or DEET product with at least 20% concentration).
• Flashlight or headlamp bright enough for use on night walks.
• A hat for sun protection.
• Sunglasses.
• Sunscreen lotion with a high SPF rating.
• Personal medications.

We recommend that children be at least 5 years old and suggest you hire a private guide.

For your convenience, we include the following gratuity suggestions based on other experiences at NWC:

• Naturalist Guide: $15 to 25 / nigth per guestt
• Community Guide: $10 to 15 / nigth per guest
• Paddler: $ 5 to 10 / nigth per guest
• Staff Members: $ 5 to 10 / nigth per guest

Please tip guides personally. There’s a tipping box located at the bar for staff members. This does not include tips you may wish to leave the bartender.

Once we arrive to the Napo River port in Coca, it takes approximately 2 hours. Upon entering Yasuni National Park, we disembark and change to paddle canoes for approximately another 1.5 hours.

This is relative, but we do recommend at least 3 months in advance or as soon as you make your plans start looking for availability.

We have a doctor and a medical center at the Community. In case of an emergency, the doctor will go to the lodge or the passenger will be taken out to the Community. For rare further situations, we take the passenger to Quito.

International and domestic airfares, airport departure taxes or visa fees, excess baggage charges, additional nights during the trip due to flight cancellations, alcoholic beverages or bottled water, laundry, wifi, tips.

There is no legal requirement for entrance to Ecuador. However, we do recommend you ask your physician.
